We would like to invite you to a very special exhibition today:
With Ansichten über einen Raum 1983 – 1990 (Views of a space), the gallery's own history is the focus of an exhibition for the first time. We are showcasing printed exhibition posters, photos, and exhibition documentation from the gallery's archives, dating from the early years up to 1990. Unique archive photographs and videos of exhibition openings and exhibitions themselves will be on display, conveying a vivid portrait of those formative years.

One artist who exhibited at the Galerie EIGEN + ART as early as the 1980s is the Leipzig-based photographer Karin Wieckhorst. In 1987, she showed the series Begegnungen in Ateliers (Encounters in Studios) in her solo exhibition, which will be part of our upcoming exhibition alongside the archive documents.
In collaboration with Dr. Sarah Alberti, a publication has been created for the exhibition that brings together selected interviews she conducted with Gerd Harry Lybke from 2014 to 2023, as well as a conversation with Elke Hannemann and Kerstin Wahala. For the first time, an overview of all exhibitions realized by the gallery to date will also be published—beginning in 1983 in the legendary rooms at Körnerplatz 8 in Leipzig and continuing to the present.

The exhibition opens on Saturday 14 March at 3 p.m. with a conversation between Dr Sarah Alberti and Gerd Harry Lybke.
We look forward to welcoming you to this special exhibition!
