Carsten sievers’ artworks constitute conceptual experiments in which a highly reduced range of artistic shapes and forms are subjected to manipulation that is likewise as simple as it is stringent. the spectrum includes rotation, division, folds and mirroring, to which simple artistic means, such as geometric lines, simple sculpted materials or the like are then subjected, causing the simple means to spawn complex patterns and formations. in fact, these may then metamorphose, from two dimensions into three, from drawings into sculptures, from sculptures into objects, from objects into installations. What is astonishing is how the minimalist reduction and stringency can give rise to clearly complex, almost baroque diversity.
