Katie Armstrong

Katie Armstrong combines two worlds: the digital and real world. She uses traditional hand-drawn animation techniques to explore the interaction between popular culture and personal experience, creating a dialogue between internal and external worlds.
Each single drawing is made by hand and then scanned. At the computer she fits the sketches to each other, adds colour and sound and is creating single sequences that then come together for the final video.
Katie Armstrong, born in 1988 in Maryland (USA), holds a B.F.A. in Visual and Critical Studies from the School of Visual Arts in New York. She was an artist in Residence in the Leipzig International Art Programme in 2010 and lives and works in Berlin and New York.

We are pleased that we will be able to reopen the gallery spaces in Berlin and Leipzig, as well as the EIGEN + ART Lab, for you from March 9th, while observing the protective measures. You can book a visit to the respective location under the following link.
In Berlin and in Leipzig, a negative corona test is obligatory.
We are looking forward to welcoming you!
